Blaine Tomlinson, Chairman
Blaine Tomlinson is Chairman of FRM, focusing on business strategy development and important investment opportunities and initiatives. Previously, Blaine was Director and a Board Member of AIG Financial Products Group, where he was responsible for establishing, building and managing the European business, and an Executive Director at Nomura International Limited, where he established a swap and new products group. He holds an MBA and a degree in Economics (Hons) from the University of Cape Town, and a Bachelor of Economics from Rhodes University. Blaine founded FRM in 1991.
Brian Robinson, CEO
Brian Robinson is Chief Executive Officer of FRM and heads FRM’s Executive Committee. He is responsible for the execution of all business strategies across FRM globally and directly manages the firm’s infrastructure. Previously, Brian was a Director of two privately owned corporations in the leisure and the healthcare industries. His work experience also includes senior roles at Ross Capitals Markets Limited (hedge fund), General Re Financial Products, and AIG Financial Products. Brian holds an MSc in Management Studies from Durham University and a Bachelor of Business Science (Major Finance) from the University of Cape Town. He rejoined FRM in 2002, after an initial two-year assignment at the firm between 1996 and 1998, and is based in London.
Akio Shimazu, Branch Manager FRM International (Tokyo)
Akio Shimazu manages FRM’s Tokyo-based operations and is responsible for business development and client services to FRM’s Japanese and Korean investors, and is actively involved in hedge fund due diligence on Asian equity funds. He is a member of FRM’s Executive Committee. Previously, Akio was Head of Alternative Investments and Head of International Equities at Schroders Japan. Prior to that, he worked at Merrill Lynch Japan and Smith New Court in Tokyo. Akio holds a BA (Hons) in Education from Waseda University. He is based in FRM’s Tokyo office, which he established in 2000.
Daniel Florsheim, CFO
Daniel Florsheim is Chief Financial Officer of FRM, managing the Finance & Tax and Compliance departments across the FRM companies. Daniel is also Chief Operating Officer for FRM Americas LLC, where he is responsible for local management of the New York office. He is a member of FRM's Executive Committee. Previously, Daniel was Financial Controller for Fidelity's Brokerage business in the UK and before that Manager at KPMG in London. He holds a BA (Hons) in Economics from the University of Manchester and is a chartered accountant. Daniel joined FRM in 1998 and has been based in New York since 2006.
Dr Damian Johnson, Head of Portfolio Management
Damian Johnson oversees portfolio management for FRM products, is Chairman of FRM’s Portfolio Management Committee and heads the firm’s Guernsey office. Previously, Damian was Head of Research at Atlas Research and Consultancy Limited, and was a Physicist Programmer at Royal Holloway, University of London. He holds a PhD in Physics (Experimental Particle Physics) from the University of Liverpool and a BSc (Hons) in Physics from Portsmouth Polytechnic. Damian joined FRM in 1999 and is based in Guernsey.
John Beech, CIO
John Beech is Chief Investment Officer for FRM and is responsible for investment policy and oversight of all FRM portfolios. John is a member of FRM’s Executive Committee. Previously, John was an Executive Director of Fixed Income Sales at Goldman Sachs in London, where he was responsible for the Fixed Income Macro Hedge Fund and proprietary trading business, and a Vice President in Fixed Income Sales at JP Morgan in London. He holds a degree in Engineering (Hons) from the University of Cambridge. John joined FRM in 2001 and is based in New York.
Keith Haydon, Deputy CIO
Keith is responsible for investment policy and oversight of all portfolios. Previously, he held positions as a multi-asset macro proprietary trader at Morgan Stanley, HSBC and Deutsche Bank. Keith holds a BA in History from the University of Cambridge. He joined FRM in 2004 and is based in London.
Luke Ellis, Chairman of Investment Advisory Board
Luke focuses solely on manager selection, asset allocation and portfolio management for FRM and advises on new business initiatives and key client relationships. He also chairs FRM’s external advisory board of hedge fund industry professionals. Previously, Luke was Global Head of Equity Derivatives and Head of Equity Proprietary Trading at JP Morgan in London, and a member of the JP Morgan Global Risk Committee. Luke holds a BSc (Hons) in Maths and Economics from the University of Bristol. He joined FRM in 1998 and is based in London.
Paul Dunning, CEO FRM Limited (London)
Paul Dunning manages FRM’s London-based operations and is responsible for marketing and client services teams globally, including Europe, North America, Australia, the Middle East and Asia (with the exception of Japan and Korea, led by Akio Shimazu). He is a member of FRM’s Executive Committee. Previously, Paul was CEO of HSBC Republic Investments Limited, a fund-of-funds division of HSBC with USD5 billion in assets under management. Prior to joining HSBC, Paul was Chief Operating Officer of Goldman Sachs Asset Management International. He holds a BA (Joint Hons) Economics and Economic History from the University of Leicester. Paul joined FRM in 2005 and is based in London.
